There's no surprise there. Delhi can be an incredibly tough city to live in. And if you're a single girl living alone in the city - welcome to the madhouse. Here are 8 reasons why it can sometimes make you want to pull your hair out. 

1. No one wants to give you a house on rent. 

The ultimate truth is that for most landlords single girls = bad girls. What time will you get home? Will boys come home? Forget boys, will any people come home? Do your parents know you live alone? Where do you work? Sigh, the question/answer rounds never end.

2. By some sweet miracle, if you do find a house, it's not what you ever imagined it to be!

Beggars can’t be choosers. Remember that gorgeous barsaati you’ve been dreaming of? Well, stop dreaming. The way rents are sky rocketing these days, suck it up and thank your stars you found something - anything at all.

3. The one question you don’t want to hear over and over again – Why are you still single?

While you’re probably putting in 12 hours of work, unwinding with a glass of wine with a few friends and don’t mind this life at all, because you know, love will happen when it has to, others will just not stop pouring their concern about why you are STILL single. 

4. Meeting someone new/dating can be SO tedious.

And if you're the other extreme and are waiting for love to happen, it's just so darn difficult. We now live in the age of dating apps and have a love-hate relationship with Tinder. But more often that not, you always need your girlfriend with an escape plan. *Creep alert*

5. Alone time is looked down upon, more often than not. 

You're surrounded by friends, but sometimes all you want to do is step out and have a quiet meal by yourself. Or maybe even go for a movie alone. But there's always someone watching, judging you inside out. Try saying "table for one" and find out. 

6. The dark night - your social life depends on whether you've figured out a way to get back home. 

With the advent of multiple cab apps, it's become a little easier getting around the city. But if you don't have a car, you don't want to take the risk of taking public transportation after dark. You do, but you're always on your guard. By now your friends are tired of dropping you back home late at night. 

7. November isn't just Movember. It's also the time you start hiding all the wedding feed on your Facebook homepage. 

Come winters, and all your friends are getting married. It's the season you dread. Not because you're not jumping the bandwagon but because it's the death of everything else in life. Weddings are all consuming and that's all your friends want to talk about. Table for one?

8. What doesn't kill you, makes your stronger.

 If by now you've survived most of the above, you're totally on the right track. Embrace the city and your singlehood and it really isn't all that bad. Don't let your couple friends get to you and go hit the bar at the next wedding.
